About Me

Hi, I'm Akhil! I was born near Boston but moved to Frisco, TX when I was 4. Ever since then, I've been inspired by downtown Dallas and local basketball courts to pursue my passions. I love working with Flutter and React.js projects but also delve into machine learning with TensorFlow and PyTorch.

I am a current senior #co24 at TAMS @ UNT in Denton, TX, where I am learning Data Structures and Algorithms in C++. However, next year, you can find me at the University of Texas at Austin, where I will be pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science and Math.

When I'm not coding, you can find me custom-designing shoes or dribbling a basketball throughout my house.

Undergraduate Researcher

Aug. 2022 - Dec. 2023 / University of North Texas
  • Implemented an optimized bi-stream CNN network with an AutoEncoder backbone network using PyTorch and TensorFlow for cropland irrigation detection and crop placement. Worked with and utilized different backbone networks (ResNet-50, U-Net, etc.) for an image and a novel cropland segmentation pipeline. 
  • Prepared cropland image detection dataset using MATLAB and Python libraries (Pandas, seaborn, matplotlib). Updated research team with data analysis and image visualizations through Python. Utilized MATLAB to display training and testing accuracies for image segmentation.
